Valtteri Bottas wows Adelaide audience

Finnish F1 star Valtteri Bottas gave the crowds attending the Adelaide Motorsport Festival great insights into his career and the revised goals which he has set himself since joining Alfa Romeo from Mercedes at the beginning of last year.

Valtteri provided a highlight appearance during the 2-day festival, giving two on-track demonstrations and taking part in an on-stage presentation with our own Mark Gallagher followed by a hugely popular autograph & selfie session with fans.  Fresh from competing in the opening rounds of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, Valtteri shared his belief that Alfa Romeo can aim for a top 5 finish in the teams' championship, consistent points-finishes being the aim.

In 2022 Alfa Romeo finished 6th in the championship, Valtteri scoring 49 of the team's 55 points. While the team is not a realistic challenger for championship titles or race wins, the 33 year admitted he gets a lot of satisfaction from helping them improve their performances in the highly competitive mid-field.

The 10-times Grand Prix winner has become something of an adopted son of motorsport fans in South Australia.  His partner, Tiffany Cromwell, comes from Strling, near Adelaide, and rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam Canyon-SRAM, so Valtteri is often be seen enjoying training and vacations in South Australia.  During the festival he drove an Alfa Romeo GTV, which Australian Formula 1 World Champion Alan Jones drove to success in the 1985 European Touring Car Championship, and a 2016 Bathurst-winning Australian V8 Supercar.
