Nicole Bearne

Founder of The Comms Exchange and former Head of Internal Communications at the Mercedes Formula 1 Team, Nicole Bearne is a leading expert in internal communications and team culture, with more than 25 years’ experience in championship-winning environments.

During her time at Mercedes Formula 1, she shaped the employee experience behind one of the most successful dynasties in the sport’s history. In 2024, Nicole was appointed Independent Non-Executive Director to the board of Motorsport UK, where she chairs the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Today, through The Comms Exchange, she works with organisations to build engaged, aligned and high-performing teams that thrive under pressure.

EXPERTISE

British American Racing: Nicole began her F1 career in the late 1990s with British American Racing, working alongside Jacques Villeneuve, Craig Pollock and Adrian Reynard. She played a crucial role in establishing the team in Northamptonshire.

Success with Brawn Grand Prix: Between 2007 and 2013, Nicole worked closely with Team Principal Ross Brawn, contributing to the team's remarkable 2009 season where Brawn GP won both the Drivers' and Constructors' World Championships. This story was captured in the 2023 Disney+ documentary "Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story."

Leadership at Mercedes-AMG F1: Following the team's acquisition by Mercedes-Benz, as Head of Internal Communications, Nicole shaped the employee experience for more than 1,300 people, supporting a culture that powered one of the greatest dynasties in Formula 1 history. Nicole helped create the culture and communication systems that powered the team to nine Constructors’ and eight Drivers’ World Championships. Working with drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas.

Founder and Director of The Comms Exchange: Nicole now leads The Comms Exchange, leveraging her F1 business experience and academic knowledge to help organisations build high-performing, people-centric cultures.
