JENSON BUTTON BRINGS HIS CHAMPIONSHIP TO THE STAGE

The roar of the V8-powered Brawn BGP 001 at Goodwood’s 83rd Members’ Meeting last weekend brought back memories from a racing era that transformed Britain’s Jenson Button into a Formula 1 World Champion. And not just any champion. He was a champion who defied the odds as part of a team that redefined the term ‘underdog’.

The story of Jenson’s championship winning season with Brawn GP comes to two UK theatres this summer as the Frome-born racer hosts ‘An Evening with Jenson Button’ at Bath’s Forum (Monday 6 July) and London’s Barbican (Wednesday 8 July) in partnership with Fane Productions and Performance Insights.

“People forget how special these cars are,” said Jenson after he was reunited with the car around the legendary Goodwood Circuit on Friday, 17 years after that memorable season, the highlight of an impressive career that started when he was just a young lad.

Growing up in the world of motor racing, Jenson went from prodigious karting talent to F1's most exciting newcomer when he made his debut with Williams in 2000, becoming - at the age of 20 - the youngest British F1 driver to start a Grand Prix.

From carefree youngster to seasoned racer, it was Jenson's talent and tenacity that eventually took him to the top. With 15 Grand Prix wins, 50 podium finishes, and sensationally winning the 2009 world title with Brawn GP, Jenson's is one of the most extraordinary against-all-odds stories in sporting history.

At Goodwood, Jenson treated the crowd to an incredible demonstration of what made that era of F1 so unforgettable. He wasted no time getting back up to speed in a car he's driven only a handful of times since his title-winning campaign. Climbing through the gears and unleashing all 750 horsepower at a staggering 18,000rpm, he reminded the world exactly why that iconic white livery holds such a special place in motorsport history.

At the height of the British summer of motorsport, between the British Grand Prix and the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Jenson will lift the lid on his celebrated career in two special shows. Jenson will also share his insights into the current F1 season and his current role as ambassador for Aston Martin, as well as offering fans the chance to ask their own questions.

Delivered with humour, insight, and honesty, an evening with Jenson Button promises a fresh insight into a career like no other from one of the sport’s most charismatic entertainers.
